This study shows that facilitated by the pandemic and other more usual drivers of change, the demands on leaders are very different from even just 12 months ago. And yet assessment approaches are not keeping up. There are also costly disconnects between assessment for selection, and the talent identification and development of leaders, which is not helping to build the qualities sought to lead in today's conditions.
As organisations are challenged to identify and develop leaders who can navigate complex and uncertain environments, our 2019 study into leadership assessment practices reinforces the view that leadership assessment approaches are required.
