Mike has 30 years’ experience in in-house and consultancy roles. His knowledge and enthusiasm mean he often finds himself at the heart of his clients’ organisations, becoming a trusted sounding board for CEOs and executive teams. His clients value his skills in designing great programmes and processes, then bringing them to life. He creates real momentum and buzz around technically robust solutions, and is as passionate about his clients’ businesses as they are.
His career began at London Underground, where he gained a broad foundation of HR and leadership skills. He then joined SHL as a consultant, eventually heading up the consultancy division. This sharpened his commercial instincts, without ever letting him forget that it’s people who drive an organisation’s success.
Melanie Long joined MDV Consulting as Principal Consulting, bringing over 18 years as an in-house talent and assessment professional and consultant business psychologist. She has deep expertise in talent, assessment and Diversity & Inclusion and operates with professionalism, integrity and empathy. Clients and colleagues alike value her wisdom, challenge, support and thought partnership.
Melanie has designed and delivered a range of assessment, talent and leadership solutions for a number of private and public sector organisations, for employees and leaders at all levels. These include one to one and group-based assessment programmes, high-potential assessment and development programmes, team development interventions, a women-led leadership programme and global 360 feedback systems.
Her career spans 7 years in-house in talent and assessment roles at BP and Marks & Spencer and before that 11 years at business psychologists SHL and DDI in a range of consulting and leadership roles. She has worked across multiple industries including FMCG, retail, financial services, energy and manufacturing and with clients such as The Coca-Cola Company, Panasonic, EDF Energy, American Express and Smith & Nephew.
Melanie builds trust-based, lasting relationships with her clients and brings perspective and wisdom to the relationships helping clients open up to new thinking and insights. She balances creativity with pragmatism to ensure solutions land well with stakeholders and deliver value.
Megan leads our coaching practice. She is known for her strong commercial focus and her ability to really understand people and what makes them tick. She uses this information to help her work through team dynamics and how to make the most of individuals and teams. Her clients value her ability to balance support and challenge as she helps them develop as leaders, and appreciate her down to earth approach, sense of fun and energy.
During a career encompassing roles at Capgemini, Whitehead Mann and The Thinking Partnership, Megan has worked at senior levels in many complex client organisations, in both the private and public sectors. Megan has an MA in Psychological Coaching from Metanoia Institute and she is currently studying for an MSc in Organisational Behaviour at Birkbeck.
Carol is a chartered psychologist with 20 years’ experience in assessment and development. Her areas of expertise include competency design, assessment and development centres, simulation exercises, executive assessment, 360° feedback and development planning. Carol is also an experienced and successful designer and facilitator of leadership, management and personal development programmes and team events.
Carol balances best practice with pragmatism, developing creative solutions that fit with an organisation’s culture. She is in her element drawing out insightful themes from in-depth analysis – whether that be designing competencies, creating bespoke simulations or helping individuals and teams identify strengths and develop their potential. She has worked as an in-house and external consultant with industries including financial services, telecommunications, media, pharmaceuticals, retail, hospitality and leisure, as well as central government and public sector agencies.
Julia is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with over 15 years’ experience in the Talent Management industry, working with individuals and teams within a wide range of organisations. While experienced across all aspects of talent selection and development, Julia has deep expertise in job analysis and competency design, individual and group assessments, 360° feedback and performance management, learning and development interventions, and training clients effectively in the use of psychometric instruments and HR skills.
Julia started her career at Talent Management Consultancy SHL / CEB, working in both the UK and New Zealand. As a consultant, her client base spanned both the public and private sectors, including organisations such as Barclays, American Express, Vodafone, the United Nations, the International Labour Organisation and the New Zealand Immigration Service. Julia has also worked in-house for British Oxygen Company (BOC/Linde Group), a leading gases and engineering company, where she managed Learning and Development across the UK.
Julia is known to be enthusiastic, determined and flexible. She likes to combine her psychological expertise with a pragmatic, results-driven and commercial approach.
Emma is an experienced consultant who started her career in industry with Thames Water and Ford Motor Company where roles leading streams of large Business Change programmes sparked her interest in the people aspects of delivering change. She moved into consultancy in 2003, joining Hay Group, a global management consultancy with a focus on helping organisations to deliver their strategy through people. During her 6 years as a consultant, Emma built her expertise across a wide range of areas varying from development of HR strategy to Organisational Design to Management Development. In her last year at Hay Group, she was responsible for managing the Financial Services consulting area of the business. Emma has spent the past 5 years running her own business, focussing on helping organisations to manage their talent, particularly at very senior levels. Emma stands out for her ability to quickly get to grips with client organisations and their needs and to develop bespoke solutions that meet these; from technical, project management and commercial perspectives. She thrives on delivering results in fast moving pressurised environments.
